Mohammad Saber Sultani: A Story of Resilience and Determination

Mohammad Saber Sultani, 34, from Kabul, lost both legs at age three in a mine accident. Despite this tragedy, he has shown remarkable resilience and determination throughout his life.

After moving to Pakistan during the Taliban regime and later returning to Kabul, Saber opened a small grocery shop. Although the business didn’t thrive, his life took a positive turn when he discovered basketball training at the ICRC Orthopedic Centre in Kabul. Saber now works as a bench worker at the ortho centre, making prosthetic limbs, which has brought stability and purpose to his life. He is also dedicated to wheelchair basketball, training for hours each day with his team. Their hard work is driven by a positive attitude and a strong heart, aiming to win.

In addition to his professional and athletic pursuits, Saber is a devoted father to his daughter. His journey from a mine accident survivor to a skilled technician and dedicated athlete is a powerful testament to his spirit and determination.
